Here at The HPH we take your experience with us to heart. We are passionate about the products we purchase, the suppliers we purchase from, the care that goes into how the food & drink are prepared, offering fun & unique activities to keep you entertained & most important your guest experience. The owner & her family live in the community so helping to grow & support the area is very important to us. We want the public house to truly be a public house. The heart of the neighbourhood & somewhere you will always feel at home at with a group or on your own for years to come.

Did you know ... FOOD, DRINK & LOCAL PRODUCERS

  • That we pride ourselves on making everything in-house from scratch?

Heck yeah, we do! We make all of our bread, burger buns, icecreams, sauces, even our drink mixes in-house. We do break this rule from time to time if we find an awesome local producer making unique products. It's fun to support other local businesses when we can.

  • That we sell craft beer from all over Ontario?

There are so many breweries making some really fun stuff so stop by & try something new. Our list is constantly changing & sometimes has some rogue beers from out of province! Plus we have deals during our open mic, DJ night, late nights & more so there is always a 'good excuse' to enjoy a brew with us;) Ontario Craft Brewers

  • That our wine list features as many Canadian wines as our small little list can offer?

Canadian wines have changed tenfold. There are so many amazing producers now which makes it super easy to find the right fit for our list. Trying international wines is also fun & needed for a balanced list so we have those too. The list is constantly evolving so there is always something new to try by the glass or bottle. You pay the same amount per ounce so no need to get what your friends like, get what you enjoy! Ontario Wine

  • That we have a selection of spirits made by local craft distillers for our cocktails?

Our ever-changing cocktail list features Dillon's, Top Shelf, Muskoka, North of 7 & our mixes, syrups, right down to our grenadine are made in-house. The only thing we do not make is our clam juice. Canadian's are a tough crowd when it comes to their caesars' so we are back to serving it with Clamato but with some secret ingredients to make it our own take on the classic. Be sure to watch for our Advent Calendar of Drinks in December. A different cocktail each day with $2 from each cocktail donated to the  Parkdale Food Centre We also created a cocktail book with all of the recipes which makes a great host/hostess gift around the holidays (available all year long). Thanks to Meredith Brown for helping with the recipes & Dwayne Brown Studios for shooting the amazing photos! Just $25 with proceeds to the centre.

  • That we have non-alcoholic beers & cocktails?

So far we have two NA brews that taste good enough to not know there is no alcohol in them. Our NA cocktails are fresh, fun & always changing. No one said being the alcohol free had to be boring! Partake  Erdinger

Did you know ... COMMUNITY OUTREACH, PARTNERS & OTHER FUN THINGS WE DO

  • That we purchased a growing tower for the Parkdale Food Centre's Growing Futures crew at Hintonburg Community Centre?

We work with the kids at the centre to help create a business called the Hintonburg Root Troop. The kids are growing greens & herbs in the towers & we buy what they grow for our menus with the proceeds going to the Parkdale Food Centre & the centre to fund more fun things for the kids to do. Its a great initiative to inspire the kids to learn about where their food comes from & how it is grown plus learn about the business side of things.

  • That our logo was made by one of our talented regulars & friend, Mad Anvil?

His graphic design company is right here in Hintonburg. It's a pretty impressive resume so we are super thankful for all the help he has given us over the years! madanvil.com

  • That the owner of The HPH is on the Wellington West Business Improvement Area board?

The WWBIA is a volunteer board of business and property owners in the Wellington West area of Ottawa. It is paid for through commercial property taxes.(not residential) We are really proud of the work we do so please take note of all of the flower planters, many of the murals or art pieces in the area & other beautification projects along the main streets paid for & organized by the board members. Also note that some of the community events are paid for/sponsored by the business owners in the area as well!  A lot of volunteer hours go into making Wellington West a great place to live & work. We hope you enjoy the streetscape. wellingtonwest.ca
